☕️ French Press Espresso Dispatch #00
The Latte Quest Begins
Experiment:
I’m starting this dispatch series after giving myself a personal challenge: make a “latte-like” beverage at home that doesn’t make me sad. I love my local spot (shoutout to Mid Bloom Coffee), and I’m not above a Blonde Roast Latte from Starbucks—especially on road trips when I’m feeling cozy and corporate. But $7–$8 a day? Not in my budget era.
Setup:
French press
Electric grinder (plus mortar + pestle backup for drama)
Stovetop kettle
Milk frother
Half & half, heavy whipping cream, maple syrup, and cinnamon
What I’m Trying to Prove:
That I can recreate the experience of a latte—not just the flavor profile—using tools I already have, ingredients I can justify, and the spirit of daily experimentation.
{improbable.} Parallel:
This feels a lot like how we prototype services in the studio: take a big shiny outcome and reverse-engineer a version using what’s already in reach. The question isn’t “Can I make the same thing cheaper?” It’s: “What can I make with constraints that still feels delicious?”
