Cream, Politics & Missed Cues

Today’s Mountain

Started slow. Again.

Opted for another latte from the neighborhood shop instead of brewing at home—which, at this point, is a comfort move and a budget leak. Meanwhile, a new government cooperative research agreement is waiting on… me. Specifically, I need to move several internal pieces before the information exchange can even begin.

Brew Keywords

☕ Creamy

☕ Expansive

☕ Decadent

☕ Royal

Accidentally royal, actually. The barista made my Amuletto with heavy cream instead of half-and-half. It was a mistake. A beautiful one.

What Surprised Me

While sipping, I overheard a conversation between three lawyers—also moms—talking about political strategy over coffee. Deep knowledge, fast thinking, and practical power… all being exchanged casually, like grocery lists.

It reminded me how much meaningful work happens outside of our direct line of sight. Quietly. Brilliantly. In the in-between.

Tomorrow’s Move

Back to the French press.

Back to homebrew and internal pacing.

This indulgent detour reminded me how easy it is to follow someone else’s rhythm when mine already works—when I actually use it.

{improbable.} Parallel

I reread an email from June. Turns out I missed key information that’s holding up our side of a government partnership. No one’s waiting with pitchforks—but the timeline is frozen until I act.

Here’s the reminder I’m carrying forward:

Big collaborations don’t just kick off when the forms are signed.

They begin when we make space.

When we show up ready.

When we stop overfilling our cups and actually… get to work.
